Most people panic when they’re lost. I would by lying if I said I’ve never felt that way myself. But when I travel and I take a wrong turn from my original destination, sometimes I stumble upon the most wonderful discovery! It has either been a boutique, a “hole in the wall” with the most amazing food or just a breathtaking landscape. I have learned to not get so worked up when I take a wrong turn.
But let me start by introducing myself. I’m Renee Kociela, a wife, mother and grandmother. But at my core, I am a lover of travel. There has been a deep desire to see the world since I was a child. It first began when I had an older cousin who worked for an airline and would send me postcards (remember those?) from far-off places. This wanderlust was really ignited in the 6th grade when we studied European history. My beloved teacher spent the summer visiting many of those countries. She had the most incredible slideshows to show our class with each lesson (if you haven’t guessed by now, I’m a child of the 80s!). Several years later in my early 20s, I would spend my Saturday mornings drinking coffee while watching Samantha Brown. I thought I could only dream of going to some of the places others were so fortunate to visit.
So here I am, on my way to becoming a travel advisor. I’ll be turning the big 5-0 in just a few months and I’m taking on this new adventure. It took a long time to arrive at this place in my life and I’m so grateful for the opportunity. I will be sharing not only destinations, but food and fashion (my other loves), and advice along the way. I will never claim to know it all, but just give suggestions from my own experience. Whether you enjoy reading my blog or actually take trips of your own, I hope you join me on this adventure! Let’s get lost together…
